Gas Oil is dyed red to prevent its use in road vehicles and as such is also known as Red Diesel, 35 second heating oil, generator fuel, and plant diesel.

· Appearance = Clear and bright

· Colour = Red

· Distillation:

Rec @ 350oC = min 85%vol

Rec @ 250oC = max 65%vol

· 50% Vol Recovered = Range 240 - 340

· Flash Point (PMCC) = 60oC

· Cloud Point = +3 oC(S) -2 oC(W)

· Sulphur = 0.20%wt

· Copper Corrosion (3hrs @ 100oC) = Class 1

· Cold Filter Plugging Point = -4 oC(S) -12 oC(W)

· Cetane Number or Cetane Index

· Kinematic Viscosity @ 40oC:

Winter = min 1.5cSt – max 5.5cSt (WINTER : 1 October – 15 March)
